Default engine gets overheated when pressing the accelarator hard

i've a 98 EXi civic. just checked the engine and the four compressors are around 85%ok. installed a new stock radiotor. and all the necessary servicing like engine oil, gearoil, spark plugs etc are newly changed. when at idle there is no problem. when accelarating normaly like not pressing the gas too much engine performance is ok. but in case case of slight dragging or in case of frequent rapid accelaration..engine gets heated. when i come to a stop for a moment and throw some water on the heated engine surface.the temperature meter cmoes down and stays down until i repeat the same performance take out. plz plz help me out on this. u guys are the best of the best .i know and u probably have the best suggestion.cheers guys and thank you in advance.

i dont think the fan would make that much of a difference. My fan never worked after my swap, and it doesnt matter. The fan is more for when your car is not moving. bad water pump???

It's definately NOT, the fan, an inoperable fan would cause ur car to do the exact opposite, ti keeps the car from operating at idle, when ur driving air cools down the engine because ur driving through it so you don't need the fan to cool it down...as per your problem, are you leaking any coolant anywhere? There might be a blockage someplace but it doesn't seem likely b/c it would overheat under normal circumstances as well, as for an answer :-\...I'm kinda stricken for words, only thing I can suggest is temp swap the thermostat to make sure that's operating properly and make sure the system has enough coolant.......blah, I'm sorry, other htan that I really don't have much of a clue , just gonna tell u it's not the fan...

is there any problem with the thermostat. few dayz back i had some mobile lickage around the engine iand i fixed with a seal. i consulted a mechanic and he said nothing serious. now there is no moe leakage.so is it the head gasket? yesterday i was doing around 120km/hr and there was no problem but whenever i try to work the engine it gets heated up but under normal speed its just fine. i think i 'll have look for the thermos? thanx in advance for all the support.

Check your coolant for any milky-ness in it, maybe you've blown a headgasket in which caused oil to seep into the coolant.

Otherwise, check your thermostat.

If you really what to check your fan, drive it hard like you said and once it starts to overheat, pull aside, pop your hood and stick your hand in behind the fan and see if there's air blowing towards the motor.

I'm having this exact problem and am getting the same answers. Thermostat, Head Gasket, Radiator, Fan.

Also, when you check for the fan, while you're there, put your hand on the lower radiator hose and see if it's warm-hot like the upper radiator hose... If not, then it's your thermostat. If it is warm-hot then you can most likely rule the thermostat out.
