Default AC fan doesn't shut off

I have a 95 EX. When I purchased my car the guy told me that the AC worked, just needed a charge. I was under the hood working and noticed the connection on the fan for the AC system was unplugged at the fan itself. I plugged it back in, the car wasn't running, and the fan started to spin. I figured it could have been because I was driving the car recently so I let it sit for hours and tried it again, and it came right on. I left it plugged in for about 5 minutes and it never turned off. Is this normal?, or is there something wrong with the relay, hence why it was probably unplugged.
