KYB AGX installed
Well, finally got the shocks installed with the help of a friend. My first time using a breaker bar and I'm in love with it. Before, I only had a 3/8 rachet.
Question....am I supposed to use the stock collar or the one supplied by KYB? i hope it doesn't matter.

Well, according to KYB's manual, you're supposed to put in their collar-- not the stock one.
And I noticed that KYB supplied 2 nuts per shock, you know the nut that goes on the very top, right below the stiffness setting.
Do you think the extra nuts are there for spare or there for some other reason? I just used 1 per shock.

Yeah I read that on the manual too. What is the collar for though?
I used the stock collar just because it looked like it held together better? I also didn't use the nuts that were supplied. I used the stock ones. I hope that doesn't matter either.
Right now, my settings are at 2 in front and 3 in rear. I haven't played with it yet because it got dark after we finished the installation.

just installed a set at the shop yesterday and we used the stock one and 2 nuts on each shock, it doesn't really matter if you use one or two, most shocks have one nut anyway
you guys actually use one nut on the top of each shock?
on my car, it had two for the stock shock. i figured it would be important to use two nuts for the kybs too. or am i wrong?

My stock shocks had one lock nut on top. My Konis have 2 jam nuts on top. This is because if you used a lock nut and later tried to remove it, there is no hex-shaped hole to keep the shaft from turning while loosening the nut. By using 2 jam nuts, it's much easier to get it apart if/when you have to, but the nuts still cannot back themselves off.
And what insert are we talking about here, the one that goes in the bushings for the upper spring perch?

I was referring to the two nuts on top of the shock assembly that attaches to the frame of the car. Did you only have one?
And as for the insert, it is a metal washer, looks kind of like a metal disc though so it's thin. But the KYB one is thicker and smaller. It goes on top of the bumpstop. (it is the second thing you put on the shock after the bumpstop) The instructions said to use the one supplied by KYB, but I didn't. I hope it doesn't make a difference.
