wheel/ nosie question
recently after finishing my swap my car has been making loud nosies when driving non-stop....like a metal on metal sound, ive searched and found some tips. i lifted my car up, and upon inspecting my driver side wheel it jiggles like hell side to side back and forth.. at first i thought it was the axel so i replaced it with a new one and it still jiggled, replaced the break pads thinkin it was that no go.. so my question is what else could it be?

Does it get louder with RPM?
Is it a whining/groaning?
If you turn left/right, does it go away/get quieter?
Those are all signs of a bad bearing. Grab the suspect wheel at 10 & 2 and rock it back and forth, and spin it. It should have no play when rocking it.

yeah, you can check them while you are doing the diagnosis I told you to do above, but checking for play in the ball joints as you rock the wheel around.

sence you replaced the axle and the wheel is moving back and fourth. it is a sure sign of a wheel bearing. bearings make a whining nosie when they begin to go dry and fail. after that they turn into a groanig and growling sound. after that it is a harsh metal to metal grinding then the bearing grenades and parts fly everywhere. the metal to metal sound can also be from the brake backing plate. through the swap it could have gotten bent and is pushing against the rotor. that sometimes sounds like a bad bearing. also check out the brakes for excessive wear or even a metal chunk embedded in the pad that wont come off. good luck the sound.
I just did a swap and i'm getting the same thing. My dad says we might have pushed the brake dust protector plate against the rotor. Im going to jack my car up anyway and check the bearings.
