If it was me I would go ahead and just find another ARP nut. Especially for a head stud, hardware consistancy is important. The way they are torqued, if one nut is weakest, it will absorb more stress than the rest.

Will it work? Maybe. Is it right? I don't think so.

One time i was building a motor for a friend and they happened to get a nut with no threads. Called ARP and i had a threaded nut at my doorstep the next day.

go to a local industrial supply house and get a grade ten nut it should do you fine. Has to be a few places that have them. Or find out what size it is and see if there is a high grade honda nut you can use. That would be better than what you plan to do which will not work. The nut will stretch its threads. You can next day one from arp also which you would get it tuesday unless you can get it ordered online or something tonight.
