help buying perfomance tires
hey all, i have a 92 Honda Prelude. i jsut bought some 17x7 rims and need help on deciding what kind of tires to buy. i'm looking for some good reliable, excellent perfomance tires that will be only use for summer.I'm looking for the best tire for wet and dry traction, handling, daily driving, and occassional track. i need tires that are great for the money and treadlife, with decent performance at a bargain price. if any of you guys got some suggestions as to what tires to buy, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks alot guys!
Dont think there is anything both superior in dry and wet conditions, I myself use R compounds (RE55S MH/ V700 Soft)in Dry track and simply dont drive in wet.
FOr street use, I have tried AD07 and they are quite ok in dry and just so so in wet

It sounds like you want everything. That's like saying you want a new car that is bulletproof reliable and has 500+ horsepower and costs under $20,000. Sorry, no single tire does everything well, so you will have to set some priorities and decide which characteristics you're willing to trade off.
The proper size tires for 17" wheels on your car is 215/40-17.
If you care more about price and value than performance, get the Dunlop Direzza DZ101. There's a $50 rebate on a set of four (through June 24) that reduces the price to $71.50/tire. If you miss the rebate, then get the Kumho Ecsta SPT, $82/tire. Both these tires offer very good dry performance, excellent wet performance, and long treadlife.
If you want even better performance and you don't mind paying more for it, then get the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. They have a $100 cash card on a set of four (through June 17) that reduces the price to $119/tire. Outstanding dry performance, outstanding wet performance, and long treadlife.

Sure there are. There are tires offering outstanding performance in both dry and wet conditions. The suggestions above do, in their respective price categories.

The AD07 doesn't come in sizes to fit any Honda/Acura cars (not even the NSX, let alone cars using smaller tires like Preludes, Integras, Civics, etc).

I like the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires, run them on my car now and love how they handle. I only run them in the summer, run winter studded tires on stock rims for winter. When it comes to wet driving they are some of the best I've seen yet while still having awesome dry traction.
