Synthetic ATF?
I'm looking to change my tranny fluid soon and was wondering what ya'll are putting back in your ATs. I'd like to go with synthetic but I know some american companies have qualms about using synthetic in vehicles older than about '95.

My wife has a '96 Accord EX 4Cyl Sedan with 178k on the odometer.
The owner's manual states that you should replace the ATF with genuine Honda ATF or an ATF that is Dexron II equivalent.
I called Red Line and asked them about there ATF compatability. They said that either their regular Synthetic ATF or D4 ATF would be an acceptable match.
They did go on to say that newer Honda automatics call for Honda ATF Z-1 and that they did not have a compatible fluid.
I will be using the D4 ATF from Red Line for the 180k service in my wife's car. We will see how it goes!

Thx all, I think I'll just go with the Honda spec to be safe. If it were Mercon 5 like alot of american autos though I'd definately go synthetic all the way.
