C-speed gets published (caution bandwidth intensive)
This our first taste of media attention in a local magazine covering Street Racing. Thought I would share it with you.
I was approached a few months back by a local magazine about doing an interview about street racing. It sounded like a fun and I felt that I could help the Import Community by sharing my thoughts about the scene especially with all the hype surrounding the street racing issue these days. I agreed on a few conditions and only if those conditions were met. They agreed and everything went as planned.
Side note - I'd like to mention that no matter how much you try to portray racing in a good light, the media will construe it into something else. I was shown the 'final draft' and OK'd it a few weeks back. And today when I got the first issue off the press, the entire article was edited and made me out to be an adrenalin hungry street racer (of which I am not). I admit that I used to (which is what they wanted so they can have an 'insider' point of view) and I do not anymore. I talked to them about the local street racing scene and about what goes on and where they used to take place when I went. If you read in the article, you'll notice that everything was written in the PRESENT TENSE, of which it was not the case in the final draft.
I was adament about them making that fact clear and that I as well as C-speed promotes racing at the track. But I guess they opted to make the article more 'flashy' by ignoring my request.
Anyways, less talk, more show. Here's the small version for those bandwidth limited people. (The links below the pics are 1600x1200 and are legible if you zoom in)

Other conditions I had before agreeing to do the interview was that they print a list of our current sponsors - as you can see, they also opted to omit that as well. I appologize to our sponsors for this. A list of our sponsors can be found on our website for those that are interested ( http://www.c-speedracing.com/sponsors.html )
Here's the links to the 1600x1200 versions (about 400k each):

thats mad cool that you got the article, but the media won't tell the truth as it is. It was distort information in what it thinks people will want to hear..
but good **** on the article

I believe that you have legal reprecussions for them altering the state in which you were telling things, they changed the article from past tense to present tense...they have altered your statements, which could have a long term negative reprecussion towards how your business is viewed by the community, and whether or not your business succeeds, or fails.
I would contact them about having a retraction to their acticle.

Sigh.. I don't know if there is anything "legally" that I can do... It never dawned on me to have them SIGN a contract or what have you... I guess I'm a too trusting person and took their word for it.
I mean, they even called me twice to verify my quotes and double check the spelling of our sponsors!!! Then low and behold, they don't even appear in the article.
I'd say that they did 'quote' me correctly.. but they changed all the pretense in which they were spoken and like i mentioned, they turned all the 'street racing days of the past' into the present tense! The whole introductory paragraph WASN'T EVEN ON THE FINAL DRAFT
I was like WTF is that???? I'm at a loss for words.

Don't call... write a latter (both email and snail mail, same thing) and CC a whole bunch of people (at least that's what i do at work), including some layer and demand an apology and reprint of the article.
