differential bearings, input shaft bearings. 5th gear.
Do i need a special tool from honda to remove the bearings on the differential? or is it something i can pick up at pepboys or sears? how about the bearings in the input shaft?
i believe my si transmission is from 1988(21 splines, unless i counted wrong. no grooves on the end of the input shaft.) my old hf transmission is from 1990, can i swap the 5th gear from the hf to the si or is the input shaft too large?
also are the bearings the same in the hf trannys & si trannys? they look the same.

I belive the 88 trans has all smaller pieces, including the input shaft, gears and bearings.
yes you need a bearing removal tool for the diff. that one is the hardest to wedge out.
the best way to see if there is a diference in size is to bust it open and see for yourself
