Help me design a custom intake for our beloved integras
Im working with some manufacturers who can work in kelvar, carbon fiber, metals and plastics of course to make an intake that kicks *** for integras. Right now I like hte mugen and Arc style, I think we all do. The problem is, they're "JDM" and cost an arm and a leg. I dont know why no one on this side of hte pond hasnt made a similar design, but im prepared to. Can someone contribute some ideas? Short ram, CAI, box over filter... etc.. etc... help me do this for you guys.

working on the 94-97 CF lip as well. Yu can get one right now actually. If interested, email : TAABMEN@cs.com
The J's intake... can you tell me about that? pics?
Our goal is making a cheap us version of some of hte big time JDM intakes... so us average consumers can affford some real performance / looks.

I think for a new functional design, this intake shold have the characteristics of the ideal intake. Those components will give you the right answer in design and the materials to use.
The air charge has to be the coolest as possible.
The air duct should be light and made out of a non heat transmitting material.
Plus, the air duct should be heat insulated.
The air filter should have a hi airflow rate and good filtrating properties.
This air filter should take fresh air from a location away from engine bay heat.
The whole system should be match tuned to the engine's airflow characteristics.
Hope it helps a little....
Good luck in your proyect!

Don't forget to consider hydro-lock prevention. Most people would agree that is the biggest negative of the AEM CAI design.

what about a medium ram type thing? like take a short ram, extend it a few more inches and give it a turn down, that way, closer to cool air, yet less hydrolock chances. anybody get my drift? and of course it has to be bling bling carbon fiber.

**** yes. that'd go perfect with my indiglo exhaust tip (thats bigger than my exhaust piping Vegeta)
i smell smoke
see pats sig
How about a carbon fiber J's racing short ram intake with a heat shield design.
Word! Sausage intake in da house

Pat, who smells smoke
How about a J's Racing style pipe to hook up to a Comptech Ice Box? Otherwise i like an entire cold-air system with a fat (like J's Racing) intake pipe and a cold-air pickup like Ice Box. I am sure you can tell what i like and would vote for.
I also would like a '98 CF Lip with a splitter. A regular '98 lip with a CF splitter attached to the bottom and the middle indent space on the '98 lip filled/smoothed. A thin sheet of CF could be used to create a "bottom" to the lip like the Mugen JDM front-end has.
All I need is a sheet/large piece of CF and a local body shop should be able to help me out. Hmmmm, where to get CF?
