thhow to change toe?
dont say go to a shop and get an alignment please..
i have a chiltons and it doesnt really help me here but how do you bring the toe in or out on the front? i know about about the tie rod ends,,but do you do it with the car on the ground or in air? im using the string to align it and saw it on c-speedracing but they had a 92-95 car and i got a 88 crx..also what size wrenches will i need? is it 19 mm for locknut and 14 mm for the rod itself? is this correct? and do i have to loosen or unbolt anything besides the locknnut?

You do kno you have to turn the tie srod end itself (counter-clockwise=toe in, clockwise=toe out) cuz from your description it sounds like you think you can adjust it without disconnecting the tie rod from the knuckle. . . . . . . .
I forgot to say its easier to keep track of how much you've adjusted it by counting how many times he turns it you don't wanna guess and over-adjust that way you have a remote idea of how much you messed up. . . . .
I was also gonna say that most shops do free alignment checks cuz if its not aligned they make a new customer. . . . .ask for a printout if they allow it or remember how off it is, go home turn it two to five times take it back or to another shop to check again, do the math to figure out how many degrees of change each turn made, and do the math to figure out how many turns it'll take to make perfect. . . . . . . Its better than the hillbillie "eyeball" it method, . . . . .quality>quantity

thanks alot guys ,basically i know the alignment is off...i can actually see it and it pulls and going by the string its off alot..because i had to replace the front right lca and radius arm and i am getting it to an alignment shop but the closest alignment shop i can trust is about 40 min away so i just want to make it so the car doesnt pull as bad as it does,,cause its not safe at all how it is to go very far..so all you got to do is take the 19mm wrench loosen the locknut,,,,then take the 14mm wrench to turn the entire shaft? and that will pull the wheel in or out?? its that simple? does it matter if its on the ground or in the air on a jackstand,,? cause i see those alignment shops do when its on the ground (platform)

you know, if the title of the thread didnt have such a bad typo, it would have caught my eye and i would have replied earlier.

yes, its that simple. except for the EF's its a 22mm locknut. and its usually frozen on there pretty good if it hasnt been loosened in a while.
you have to consider the direction of the thread and which direction you want to change toe. it always confuses me, and i have to sit and think a bit before i try. its not hard, just take a moment and think it out.
i dont really see the point of you trying to adjust it yourself tho unless you really know what youre doing with the strings, just to take your car to the alignment shop. just go directly to the shop and get it done. youre not going to kill your tires that quickly.

it has nothing to do with killing tires,,its about killing people..the car pulls very bad and i got to go on the parkway to drive 40 minutes away. its dangerous how it is so i just wanted to get the wheel as straight as i could. thanks for the info
