Default Engine shutting off

Today i was driving on the highway for 20 minutes at about 70mph. I was on the exit ramp and shifted to neutral to let it coast. As soon as i did this, the car shut off and i had to turn the ignition to get it started. This has never happened to me before. I usually dont drive on the highway for more than ten minutes nor do i have the AC on. Could it be the combination of using both? or was it something i did wrong shifting? It did it on the way home too, both times when i was shifting into neutral.

its a 92si stock engine 2.3l (prelude of course)

no symptoms, never done this before.

I drove aroud in the city for 20 minutes later that night and nothing happened.

My dad said it was probably because i was on the highway and the idle speed dropped too fast when i pushed in the clutch. i was going 3500 rpms then pushed in the clutch to put it in neutral to let it coast on the exit ramp.
