Default When my cars cold

When i first start my car up in the morning to go to work it always idles so interestinly. The idle will jump for about up to about 2k rpms. Im sure other peoples have done it too. Its been doing it from the factory. SO could this be a bad IAC vavle or what?

you need to check the FITV

and also check and bleed your cooling system

I couldn't exactly understand your post. Are you saying the RPM's surge, or it just idles @ 2000rpm?

If it's a cooler morning, mine will idle at 2000 for about 20-30 seconds then will gradually drop down to normal idle. That's normal as far as I know.

haha sorry about that. Im sayinf it jumps up to about 2000 rpms and drops back down to about 800rpms. The dile just goes up and down for about a minute or so.

its either your FITV or you have a bad vacuum leak.

to fix the FITV, you can always block off the coolant lines and loop them back to the thermastat housing.

I had the same problem and it was the IAC which the dealer replaced for free since there is a emissions recall. I have a 97 sh and it is covered you may want to call your local dealer and ask if yours is covered under the recall. They trouble shooted everything for free and replaced everything for free.

that will not fix your problem
that is one way to have a surging idle when cold

it will just idle a little higher than normal until its warm. Why would it surge the cold idle? Its not causing a leak.

ahve you never read of people doing the coolant bypass?

a cold idle @ 2000 is perfectly normal
nothing to worry about

700-800 is a normal idle speed
it's perfectly normal for a honda to idle above 1500k when it's cold out.. then drop down to normal idle speed

if the OPs idle speed is fluctuating up and down this could be a symptom of a bad O2 sensor

No, he's saying the idle is surging 800-2000 when he starts up.
