Default Re-Wired Viper 591xv, weird issues afterward

Well, I'm just beginning to learn about wiring etc, and was looking for some input.

Due to a lot of recent thefts in my area, I decided to re-wire my entire alarm. I was very cautious to strip, solder/splice wire-by-wire. Everything seems to be working, but I've run into some wierd issues.

#1 My alaram makes a very low pitched noise when I either unlock/lock the car, and then makes it's chirp(s). The noises sound like under-powered siren chirps.

#2 The unlocking/locking of the car seems to be somewhat delayed from the inputs on my 2-Way Remote.

I used 14 gauge wire all the way around, and would really appreciate some help to an electrical-newbie.

Everything is grounded properly, I will look it over again tomorrow.

The shop that put it in a year ago did a horrific job, I have basic wiring knowledge, and an alarm install is definently within my grasp. The term "half-assed" can't even describe how the alarm was hooked up.

So you think it's either a bad ground or a faulty connection?

well if the wires are all correct. common problem is a bad ground. thats what im guessing it is.. perhaps u didnt pick a good clean spot to ground it or the wire is loose

Sounds like the culprit. Thanks for your help.

If anyone has any other thoughts I'm all ears.

</TD></TR></TABLE>I have to agree withjohn666 the first thing to check is the ground for the alarm, [where did you ground it?] next try a reboot, disconnect batt. neg. (-) terminal wait 5 min. then reconnect. 94

You might have fried the alarm brain when you tried to re-wire it. I came upon the same problem when I tried to install an Excalibur alarm on my cousin's coupe. The siren has a low pitch tone...and will not turn off until you pull the fuse out of the in-line fuseholder!! I believe the unit he got was messed up even though it was "new" in the box.

I don't really want to go through the hassle of trying to re-install it in his car. I checked just about everything....I still think the unit is bad. A buddy of mine has the same alarm and his is acting up now.
