Default si engine in hf shell???

i bought an 88 hf that is gutted and has an si (d16a6) engine swap with hf tranny, is this a good setup, does anyone know how quick that setup is? a stock 88 hf is 18.6 in the quarter and si is only 16.2. but i figured since its 200 lbs lighter than the si, with the higher geared hf tranny it would be good..ecpecially turboed, but is this setup good?

Umm how would the fuel efficient hf tranny be better than the performance geared si tranny? You won't see the best performance out of the a6 with the hf tranny.

My buddy ran a 15.2 with intake, exhaust, and some ignition.

right but i heard the hf tranny in the setup is better because when i get it turboed its higher geared, turbo is better with the little higher gear right? the car have 4-2-1 header and exhaust and cold air intake, plus it is a shell i mean nothin in it all gutted and u tellin me its only capible of 17's???? thats like 80 in quarter mile!!! that not right

Ok flat out I'll tell you the hf tranny is designed for fuel economy. After 2000rpm torque just drops. After 3200rpm hp drops down as well. Though it may be high geared theres nothing left after like 4000rpm even if you build it up. I have a 89 hf with a full exhaust and cold air intake, iridum plugs and wires and it pretty much makes very little difference. Just go with the si tranny or even the zc tranny. The power band is at the higher rpm range for those trannys.

Nope, shorter/lower gearing will be better until it is so short you can't physically shift fast enough and loose time.
