Default ecu after AEM intake installed

In the guide i got for installed my SR, it said take off the neg. battery cable so the ecu can reset itself while im installing, but in a thread on here someone said something about resetting the ecu yourself or waiting a week for it too adjust. When the started my car back the clock was reset and everything, so does that mean my ecu reset itself or do i need to wait a week for it to adjust to get the max performance from my intake?

your ecu did reset because the clock is off the ecu, your ecu will remap itself, just drive it and it will adjust. You don't have to reset it however because the computer will still adjust to the increased airflow. I don't really know if you'll see a huge difference, just better throttle response
