what could be the problem?
what could be the problem?
Did your MIL (check engine light) come on? If not it could be if the car was cold. VTEC won't engage if you don't have enough oil, and if the car isn't warm. But if it was something more than that your MIL would come on.

have you driven it since then? still the same?
check your solenoid (vtec) oil level/pressure and yes make sure the temp is were it should be before even trying to engaging vtec

theres a few factors that must be met in order for VTEC to engage (assuming the system, ecu, solenoids, etc is all fine):
*no check engine light (CE being on could cause the ECU to not let your car go into VTEC to protect itself in a way.. depending on the malfunction)
*engine must be at normal operating temp (not cold)
*oil pressure/have enough oil
*throttle position, gear/speed

Inorder for vtec to engage, you must floor the car. At first I thought my vtec wasn't working either, so I ask my mechanic. He specializes in Hondas/Acuras/Toyotas and he told me just floor the car and you should feel it prvoided your engine is warm and oil is full. The vtec doesn't work if you add gas slowly to moderately. It has to be a sudden heavy surge of the gas pedal.
OK heres what happened i went into Acura today b/c of the VTEC problem. and the tech first asked me if ever messed with the ECU i said no, then he takes it for a test drive. So he pulls it in the garge and tells me i need a selinoid valve. then he said the engine thinks its on but its not ? can someone explain this to me and why im having this problem? THANKS!

WOW.. "vtec" didn't engauge?? damn.. what a crying shame...
what were you trying to do?? impress him with rapid crazy acceleration and change in pitch of your intake? Was it the vtec crossover that didnt go? or was it the IAB that you were desperately looking forward to hearing??
vtec vtec vtec.....
some guy tries to impress me with his "vtec" and I see that "vtec" and raise him one "turbo blow off"...
Oil pressure, oil level, is car warm (reading half way on temp gauge?)
