CYP CODE 9 - Have 130ohms at all 3 sensors in dist & no continuity
I measured ~150ohms in each sensor (cyp, tdc, and the other). I also checked for continuity to a ground, and get nothing. I'm not sure if I need a new dist or if I'm doing the test wrong.
Thanks for your help.
When I do this test: For the resistance test I am using a new battery in my meter and I place the electrodes on the terminals for the CYP sensor. I get a reading of 150-0ohms depending on my calibration switch. Helms spec is 350-700 or so.
For the continuity I place the negative electrode on either the chassis or neg of the battery and the pos on one of the terminals for the CYP sensor.
I get aboud 150ohms for the 3 sensors in the dist, and none have continuity. I checked my vtec pressure solenoid and it offered a reading of .5ohms or so when I checked continuity.
Thanks for your help.

Those sensors in the distributor are magnetic, so the resistance check is only sorta good. Most times a bad sensor will fail the resistance check. But it's possible for a bad sensor to have OK resistance. It's also possible for the star wheels down in the distributor to be screwed up or ???
Don't forget to check the wiring back to the ECU. The ECU can't tell the difference between a bad sensor vs. a broken wire.
That would be the VTEC solenoid valve, right? The VTEC pressure switch should be open circuit when the engine's not running.
