From what I understand, there is an airbag block-off tray for the EK that also fits the EG. Can anyone confirm this???

 

incorrect. if you are removing the bag, just remove the cover and bolt it back into the dash. easiest way to do it, and it costs you nothing.

That is what I thoght but I saw a couple of others on here saying that they used the EK tray inside the EG. MY problem is that I have not actually seen the EK tray so I cannot even guage how possible it is. If anyone has any pics, it would help a lot. Thanks...

 

The cover is definately not a bad idea, though that is not where I am going with this. I actually am intending to use the cover as well, but I am wanting the tray to mount under it so that I can use the space underneath for what it is.

Oh ya, so I actually did get the air bag out after removing the dash. It was still obviously attached to the cover and when I went to take rhe cover off I found it had proprietary screws to ward off tampering. The screws have the star look on the inside with a little metal peice sticking up in the middle basically stopping any imposter fittings that could allow me to take it off. My descriptions i scrap but if you know the fitting for the screw I am talking about, all I ask is that you clue me in.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing, kicking myself in the a$$ becasue I went the the junkyard without a pair.

 

they are security screws. go to like home depot, maybe with a pic on a digital camera....or they may just plain out know what you are talking about.......lol, some people that work at lowes are complete dumbasses, and cant tell you where security screw bits are. they are over in the tools section, they MIGHT come in a pack, where you have to buy like 6 or 7 different sizes......but once you have them, you can take off about any screw in the world , granted you have phillips and flat head...... anyways, tehy arent that expensive......GL

yes a EK tray does fit a EG with minor work.. th eEK tray is slightly longer and all you have to do it trim the dash on the inner side and it will fit.. seen it many times and done it b 4 .... sorry no pics

 

You... are the man. Thanks a lot. Trimming the dash a little to make space for the tray is easy enough BUT, will the airbag display cover completely cover the EK block off tray from sight???

My goal is to have a little hidden pocket. Thanks btw

no it will not.. maybe u can try if the EK one , but a EG one wont cover it because the EK tray is longer....

now my question is, what are you trying to smuggle? hehe j/k, sounds like a cool idea though... you know, hide other chicks phone numbers from the g/f in a secret air bag tray...BRILLIANT!

 

No lol... no smuggling. I was actually thinking of a way to do "something" to use the space, just don't know exactly what yet. My luck, whatever I put in there I will forget about.
