Default Need a little help???

My friend has a 00 Civic Si and his first stage VTEC won't engage. His setup is as follows: header, exhaust, MSD wires, MSD coil, MSD ignition, AEM cold air intake, Apexi V-AFC Gen II. What would be some causes for this to happen? Thanks!!

First stage VTEC? Never heard of it. Try check on the VAFC where it says # of cylinders, make sure it's set on 4

Well VTEC kicks in twice doesn't it? First at a certain RPM then at a higher RPM. That's what i meant. Sorry...

Oil level.
Engine temperature.
Transmission speed.
ECU in closed loop operation.

Any CEL?

ok...i must be confused...I have a GSR engine in mine. I'm just trying to anwser his questions. So ease up on the Jackass attitudes. He has brought up the CEL sometimes. I read his code and it was a 22. So there isn't two stages of VTEC..then why does the VAFC have a selection for two different engagement points?

Code 22 is VTEC pressure. So that means somethings wrong with his oil, either its to low or none in there. But i remember when i had my VAFC it took out the pressure valve. So im now thinking its something in the VAFC that he did.

VAFC only has ONE selection for VTEC engagement. Screen should look like this:

LO>HIGH -this is the RPM VTEC engages at
HIGH>LO -this is were is disengages, and comes off the "big" cam.

VTEC Honda trannies are made to keep the revs in the powerband. And I am a jackass.

vtec will disable if your cylinder head pressure isn't high enough. Either you have a problem with the oil in your cylinder head or the vtec oil pressure switch could be broken or unplugged or something.

sorry guys we only have enough for one vtec per car
