RF punch3 10"
Hey im gettin this from my friend for 60 bux. The sub comes in a ported box. I know rockford subs arent exactly the best out there, but for 60 bux i couldnt pass this up. Anyways i was wondering if you guys think this sub is worth hooking up, and if so what amp would be a good matchup for this (cheap but sufficient)? Oh yea, i dont have anything in my car right now (audio wise) besides rockford speakers all around. I used to have 2 12" rockfords hooked up to a 760 Pioneer but they got stolen, so any bass compared to what it is right now would be good. Thanks
Damn $299? Thats very pricey for me...im going to need that expensive of an amp to power one p3? Isnt there anything else maybe around 200 or cheaper? sorry im in college n broke as a joke
any other opinions on the hifonic? I kinda wanted to go with rockford since i heard theyre amps are pretty good, but if the hifonic will work just as well then i might look into it...
also..i found the P4002 for like 220 shipped so 299 is wayy off.....

can anyone else give some input on the p4002? im really thinking about gettin this now but i want a lil more input on whether it will or wont be enough to power the p3
i went to bestbuy and the guy there said that when you buy an amp you usually want to be 100+ over the subwoofers power so you can use the subwoofer to its full potential...is this true? wouldnt matching the power be sufficient enough? (p3=400, p4002=400)

when estimating how hard something will hit...what do i look at? the rms rating? the size? For example, will 1 12" at 350 hit about the same as a 10" at 400 because it pushes more air? Or should i just determine it mainly by the power its putting out...the 2 12"subs i used to have were only putting out maybe 150 each, for a combined 300, so since the one sub im using now is rated at 400, does that mean it hits harder?

Good choice cause thats what i have.
i would recommend 2 12" subs. Now if u are worried about the weight then u want to go with 1 12" . I like 12" because they are not to big and not to small.
Heres an ex if u have 2 12 woofers and they are rated at 150rms/300max each then if u are worried about the weight then go with one 12" that is rated at 300rms/600max. It all depends how loud u wanna go and how much u want to spend also.

weight aside
so basically 1 sub rated at say 600rms will hit just as hard as 2 subs with a combined rating of 600rms? The size and quantity of the subs dont make a difference?

On my ride i have 2 12" diamond audio subs and u can say the box is slightly heavy but i myself prefer 2 subs over 1. The woofers are rated at 300rms/600max each. I have the same as u(P5002) and im only using 1 channel like i said before and then they thump and that because i have the gain like a little bit more than 1/2 gain.
I would say the amp can take any woofer that is rated at 300-600rms easy.

sorry but i dont think you understand my question...i think you think i was talking about the amplifier, i was talking about subwoofers in general, if bigger/more subwoofers=better...thanks for the help though

It should! This guy i know has one L7 in a tuned box and he hit 140-2dbs and that is loud for just one sub. The woofer is rated at 750rms/1500max.

Imo no, you can only push so much air with one sub. Adding subs is an easy way to add a LOT more volumne.
If I had the room in my car I'd probably do 3 10's, but unfortunately I don't. Currently I have 1 Boston 12 and I'm pushing about 600rms to it. Next setup? 4 Diamond 8's in cab, all things being equal (pushing about the same amount of power), the 8's will be about 1 1/2 times as loud as the 12.

i have the RF stage 2 punch sub in a closed box powered by a weak-*** lightning audio 250 watt rms amp....sounds incredible though. i don't listen to rap, so it's perfect for my music (hardcore ****)...but yeah, i think one 10" is suffiecient, just depends on what kind of music you're into.
Well i listen to like mostly rap, so every now and then when i feel like it ide like to be able to turn it up and vibrate the whole car with each hit of the sub. I dunno if the 10" is capable of that but if im pushing 400rms im guessing it would hit pretty decent...hopefully...i guess ill see, my amp is being delivered monday night so ill probly have it in by tuesday or wed
I also heard that this amp put out alot more power than what its rated at....i need to learn how to check it so hopefully i have room to add another p3 in the future

most rockfords put out more power then its rated, mine is only rated at 250 but puts out 294 at 4 ohms. as for a p3 is an awsome ******* sub, my buddy has a 12 inch p3 in his eclipse powered by a rockford 3001 only putting 300 watts to the 500 watt sub and it sounds great. but then again at a certain point bass starts to kill my head. but we bump it pretty loud. anyways good luck with ur set up.
