Higher compression ; US Spec - 10.6:1 , J Spec 11.0:1

Which translates to a rated HP/TQ of ; 195/130 VS 197/134

And of course the tranny ratios ;

S80 w/LSD USDM B18C5
3.230
2.105
1.458
1.107
0.848
3.000
4.400

S80 w/LSD JDM B18C Spec-R
3.230
2.105
1.458
1.034
0.787
3.000
4.785

In addition, yes our engines do run a bit on the rich side of things. Are you looking for the better swap candidate ? Or are you talking about importing a whole vehicle to our shores ?

You might also want to check our 'Search' function uptop, it's a necessity and a gateway to all the information you'll need.

Do you have the numbers? I'm sure someone on here could help interpret them as to what needs to change.

Also, might be worth looking at some sort of engine management to "friendly" the numbers.

what's the purpose of having a longer 4th and 5th gear in the jdm tranny? I know it affects quarter mile performance.

It really seems as if the longer 4th and 5th gear were added along with the 4.785 final drive to keep rpm's down on the freeway.

The gap between 3rd and 4th is HUGE on a 98 Spec trans when compared to a 96 Spec.

^ I really can not tell though. I would like to know if i can see the difference. I have friends with the usdm itr tranny and i have jdm itr tranny. So to do this test would i have to redline 3rd and shift to 4th to see where my rpm falls at? Would that be an accurate way of testing?
