I broke my door handle and i have an extra one laying around, i was thinking is there a way you can take out the part where you stick the key in to unlock it from the old one and switch it to the new handle so i can use my old key.

 

You can always get it rekeyed if you really want it, actually i need to do this.$75

 

I take it your talking about the lock cylinder? If so yes just take the plastic c-clip off and it will come right out. Put yours in it and your good to go

 

the lock cylinder is a PITA to get out.. just get a key made

 

what sucks is a bought the door of someone, and i forgot to ask about the key haha, right on for the help though

 

If it is a DC, you simply pull a clip (part 9 in the diagram) to release the cylinder. It is easy.
