tx,

I currently using Hawk HP+, they are pretty good ( and not expensive compare to others) I will try Poterfield R4S . I believe they are pretty good also.

My concern is that pads good for the track heat up more slowly than those for street, and particularly autox. So I am worried that I either end up w. a pad that will overheat on the track or never get warm enough on an autox/street.

Any thoughts?

That's why I use Hawk HP+ or R4S, they don't need to be heat up to perfrom ( like most race pad ) they work like oem pad but provide a lot more braking force than stock.

I asked Andie at Carbotech this exact question - and this was the informative response I received:

-----------------------------------

"Thank you for the e-mail regarding pads for the ITR.

There is a variety of pad compounds you can choose from for the ITR. For
aggressive/hp street and auto-x combination, I recommend the Axxis Ultimate,
which is $92.25 in the front and $52.35 in the rear. This pad has good
initial bite, is easy to modulate, has a broad temperature range (ambient to
1000F), moderate to low dust, low noise, and is rotor friendly - this is the
perfect pad for street/auto-x. Since it has very good fade resistance, it
is also suitable for light track use. I think the Axxis Ultimate is an
excellent value given the high braking performance it offers.

For street/track combination, I recommend our Panther Plus compound in the
front and the rear. The cost is $136 front and $96 rear. The Panther Plus
offers race-level braking torque, but is also very rotor friendly, has a
moderate dust and noise level, a ery broad temperature range (150F to
1300F), and has excellent intitial cold bite, which makes it ery streetable.
Many of our street/track customers use this as their daily driving pad, even
though it is intended for track use, because of its street-friendly
qualities. The P+ has significantly more braking torque than the Axxis
Ultimate, which is why it is recommended for track use, but is not very well
suited for auto-x, because of this. It will prove to be too
grabby/aggressive when used for auto-x.

Thus, I think the best pad for your application of street, auto-x, and
ocassional track use is the Axxis Ultimate. You might also consider
purchasing a set of front Panther Plus pads for when you go to the track -
fronts are easier and more convenient to change before you leave for the
track event than the rears."

I've tried many different pads, and I think Panther Plus is the best pad for street/track use. I use P+ in the front, but found that anything real agressive in the back makes the rear ABS kick in way too early on track, so I use stock pads in the back; or something like AXXIS would probably work. The dust and squeal up front are a little annoying, but with gunmetal wheels, or any other brake dust colored wheel, it is tolerable. The dust is not corrosive and washes off easily.

I like my Porterfeild r4s pads, matched with S.S. lines and hi-temp fluid you'll find better endurance at the track and plenty of drivability at home.

I'll be running endless NA-Y once my stock pads die out. Good for street and occasional auto-x/track.
