Default Convertible Top Mod...

I was recently at a socal meet not too long ago, and some shady foolz didn't wanna hook me up with the info on which wire to cut to enable the top to convert while in motion. All I know is that with a blade and a flashlight, and about 5 minutes, you could drop the top at any speed with the handbrake up about a click or so - in motion. Of course I wouldn't wanna do this at any speed over 5 mph or so, but on the freeway, or while slightly coasting, I'd hate to pull over, and have to come to a complete stop. Let me know if anyone can accurately tell me which wire under the passenger side dash to cut. Hopefully it works, if not, I' can simply reconnect it. I'd like to know which one - If anyone has done it themselves. Thanks again for any info - Greatly Appreciated.

no to sound like a ***** but it is there for a reason. to let the top down on the interstate would be nuts. it would get drag and rip off of your car. my advise is just leave it alone. you only have to get the parking brake up enough to get the light on in the dash. you can do it from small rolls i think.

I don't even know you. I don't understand how you - out of the blue, said, I thought you were shady. But anyhow. Just simply posting for anyone who is willing to share a tip or trick. Thanks for any info.

The wire you clip is the one for the Vehicle Speed Sensor going into the convertible top module. Tell me if that's a good idea.

Obviously I posted to get information, that's all I come to HT for. Anyhow, any help would be nice, don't really need any sarcastic or smart remarks, as I'm just here to get s2k info like everyone else. Nor to start any drama. Again Any tech. help would be cool.

I have the answer for you, but before you click the link please take what I have to say to heart.

It absolutely blows my mind that people (not singling you out) are so lazy that they simply cannot do a extremely simple search, not even using the Honda-Tech search engine but one of the 2 largest search engines in the world. I used my Yahoo Toolbar in IE and typed in the search query "convertible top mod s2000". With that super generic query, I got the answer to your question 3 results down. In making your post, you have wasted space for other useless posts as well as possibly alienating yourself from the board from making remarks that could be construed as insulting.

Enjoy.

I drive daily about 100 a day on socal fwy's. usually in 0-5 mph traffic. and sometimes im in a smooth sunny day, and perhaps stuck in traffic but not slow enough to engage my top to go down and get out of whatever lane im in to completely stop, and I think you need to be under a certain amt. of mph for the top to come down. Obviously I wouldnt drop it at an unsafe speed. Not to sound like a *****, but However It's my car, and whatever I did or do is my option - As I'm only asking for technical help, with someone who is familiar with my request. Thans for the post though, I get your point. It could be a dangerous thing for some people. heh.

Todd, I did the search and was unsuccesful, perhaps my search strings weren't doing it. However, I figured I'd ask someone on Honda-Tech, since I thought it was a pretty friendly community. Obviously I haven't posted much because I get useful helpful information as it is in the forums. But for some reason I didn't see this topic today. So i didn't think it was a big deal to just post it. I guess it was!? geez. But anyway. Thanks for the info.

That's all I got to say about that.

Yes the VSS, but wasn't familiar with the color of wire or exact location. I'm not as familiar with it and all the s2k components as you might be - hence the reason for my post in the beginning. But I really dont see the reason why people have to be so cocky, arrogant, sarcastic and rude when someone simply posts a generic question. Obviously I didn't find it another way. Just a normal person, asking a question. I thought someone would just reply with like, hey yea just look under the dash look for this wire, cut it, and your set. but know, get numerous responses on how someones so extremely lazy to do a search, or how someone thinks its a dumb idea or whatever it might be. But oh well, I usually say, if you got nothing nice to say, dont say it at all, but yet people continue to take time to reply to an ignorant post (according to them). I'd simply go to the next topic on the page. But then again that's just my opinion. Im out.

Last time I post here.

peace.

next time just post your question without the comments or your "opinion" if you knew what wire it was then you just need to stop in a retailer who sells the books for our cars and look up the wiring, a quick 5 minute cheap *** stop....and the top comes down in seconds, if traffic is 5mph, when it slows slam on the ebrake and popthe bitch open, 6 seconds later you can speed to catch up to that bumper 10 feet ahead, u wont miss anything promise

DO NOT cut the green/red wire that the s2ki thread indicates........all you need to cut is the black/white wire..
