Default J&S Safeguard?

Is a safeguard nescessary for a High compression motor setup tuning hondata?? 12:1 compression

Brand new you can get them for ~$500 without monitor, used you can get them for $500 with monitor(or cheaper). I'm currently running the P28 based Hondata with the J&S Ultra v1. It saved me quite a bit of headaches back when I was programming my PowerFC and Toda B setup.
