Default Cheap exterior clean-up mods

i found this on another forum and i thought i'd share with you guys it's pretty clean so check it out

direct link <-> http://www.superhonda.com/foru...pp=15

Remove rear wiper and brake light (if you have one)
Cost: Free
Needed: adjustable wrenches, I think that's it (this was a good 4 years ago)

Paint brake calipers/rotor hubs
Cost: $12
Needed: Engine enamel, paintbrush. I used gunmetal for the hubs and gold for the calipers. Found it easiest to just spray the paint into a cup and brush it on, worked surprisingly well, only 3 coats were needed and hard to mess up. No rust, y0!!!

Chrome instrument rings
Cost: $20
Needed: Kit from eBay, phillips screwdriver. It's actually an APC kit (Derek, what the hell are you smoking?) and comes with an aluminum-ish bezel background... of course being APC that was bent, and it was a little too flashy for my tastes so it got thrown out. The rings look really good though, this is a horrible pic but it's the best I had. Looks 5x better in reality, and the rings reflect the light of your instruments at night. Change the instrument lighting for $5 and you'll have a sweet lil setup.

Painted side skirts
Cost: $25
Needed: 600/800 grit sandpaper, 2x cans primer, color, and clearcoat spraypaint. I painted them on the car, just masked off the car with newspaper! Sanded, 7 coats of primer, 7x color, 7x clear. 5 years later they still match, doncha think? I did this when I was 16!!!

S2000 antenna
Cost: $45 (but I got mine for free )
Needed: Kit from http://www.locustom.com, hacksaw, screwdrivers.

OK guys. I was pretty sure it was the law, but maybe not. I thought it was only legal for cars produced before (insert correct year here, maybe 1975). If your car is newer than that its illegal.

Also its stupid. Why would you do something that makes your brake lights less visible for people behind you?

Anyways, maybe im wrong. But i didnt think so.

this post has information about not having a third brake light being illegal.

Can someone with some experience chime in? Now im intrigued as to what the law is.

I've heard tons of different stuff about the 3rd brake light,
I think mostly it's just that different states/areas are more iffy.

i thought a third brake light is required in california. all new cars seem to have it too. and like the previous poster, the spoiler light counts as a third brake light.

I think they all look pretty decent. I ordered the FUBA Shark Attack antenna for my car, and will be painting my side skirts and doing the rear wiper plug delete. Look up Sierra on Team Integra and he sells the wiper plug kits. He ships things SUPER quick and is a great guy. I acutally like the little rings, it is a subtle touch of elegance.

You read my mind. I love the shaved side moldings (and yet my car retains its original side moldings).

That's because he also has a spoiler, which has a light. So technically he still has a third brake light, legal or illegal.

your supposed to have the 3rd brake light here in CA as well....been with out the 3rd brake light for the past 4 years, havent gotten pulled over... "YET"! lol

mods are alright..i'd only do the s2k antenna and paint the side skirts the right way (not the ghetto/lazy way like he did).

I never understood the S2000 antenna especially on Integras which have a power antenna. When the car is off its all the way down. Although, its been awhile since I had a stock radio so I don't remember if the antenna stays up even while listening to cds or not. I know with my Alpine, the only time the antenna is up is if I am listening to the radio which is hardly ever.

I like the rest of the mods except for the rings.

integra antenna wiper motors go out all the time. Instead of spending alot of money for a new working motor, this is a practical time to replace the antenna.
