Default High RPM

I have a 92 (stick shift) and it runs high rpms like probably everyone else. Any suggestion on lowering rpms without getting new transmission?

well you can always get a different final drive or one person put in a 5th gear from another tranny

that wouldn't mean getting a different tranny

but it would be much easier just slapping on a f22 tranny

or the obvious

DRIVE SLOWER

I have a plan for my car wich involves shorter final gear + much wider 5th gear from an other tranny or even custom
I if i can do that it would be the best for me... shrto 1-4 gears for racing and wider 5th gear for high way

Did someone do that for a H series tranny or was it a B..I rember reading a thread where someone did that but I thought it was a B series.

Link me up buddy cause I'd love to read it..and give it a try...getting those RPMs down on the freeway would make me just a little bit happy
and for the OP yeah I think this would be your only choice. or yeah slow down..

ok edit there seems to be mixed opinions on fiting the F series 5th into an H tranny...off to read more..

I rember the thread I was thinking of it was a B series and the guy put in an LS 5th..maybe an option shorter 1-4 and a tall 5th. I wouldnt really want much shorter gearing though then what I have....except 5th

the easiest way to lower rpms for any speed would be to buy some blinging 22's....

do some math as to how long it will take you to save enough money from improved gas mileage to offset the cost of putting a taller 5th in. and it was b series trannies that people do the LS 5th into a gsr/itr/b16 tranny.

inches in diameter of rims to get, a larger overall diameter rim+tire than stock rim+tire will reduce the rpm for any given speed, a smaller diameter rim+tire than stock will increase rpm for any given speed
