anyone use STACK dash displays ?
I seem to remember an Australian company - name now forgotten - that makes similar products that are more affordable and well-respected... Anyone know more about this option, right off hand?

Motec is Australian but not really affordable at about $7K to start.
Are you thinking of the Iceman system? I've seen it advertised and it looks like a great entry level system. It's a bit limited on what you can do with it though. I haven't seen the software.

Here's a link to the Iceman display... NOT related to the Iceman intakes btw.

it's neat and depending on model it has cool data acq. features. 8100 will start you off around 1300 or so. as for bang for the buck, if you're on a budget money is better spent else where. but if your racecar is atleast 10k, then maybe you can justify something like a stack.
mine was already in the car i bought...
Mmmm Stack clusters........ I just can't justify the cost versus benefit issue with them. Some of the new Japanese sport bike clusters are nice but the difference in RPM redlines will end up using about half of the dial.
care to share approx. how much you paid?
I think the cost of a stack isn't really out of hand when you compare how much a set of admittedly "blingy" gauges ("standard" water temp, oil temp, oil press. + control unit) from Defi cost.
For the extra few hundred for a stack (guessing now) - you'll get a cleaner display without the Star Wars X-Wing fighter gauge setup of the Defis.

4 years.
now thats "back from the dead"
there are much better, cheaper alternatives on the market now. Stack has not kept up with the tech advancements on in-car DAQ

That is exactly the project I was considering to work out. I wanted to use either a CBR1000 or RC51 cluster. I prefer the CBR cluster with the all analog tach. I haven't been able to find any wiring diagrams though.
CBR1000

RC51

They sell a lot of these clusters on ebay. Try searching for cbr cluster, gsxr cluster, r1 & r6 cluster. I'm guessing the Honda ones might be the way to go because they might be made from the same company that makes 'em for Honda autos. The tach might just plug into the factory harness.

shi - who'd like a STACK display in his ITR
