Default 3.2TL-S

are these good cars? im considering trading up from my civic for one of these. Theyre pretty fast and nice and luxurious, thats why i want one.

What do you guys/gals think about these?

I have an 02 type s and love it. I think its a good combo between something nice and something fast. It also depends on what you want.

acura 3.2 TLs are a solid car. good HP, sexy looks, luxiourus

they have a few known problems
- transmissions (which is covered under warranty untill 100k)
- engine mounts (doesnt need to be done untill 70-100ish)
- rotors (upgrade to aftermarket)

those are the most common. check out acurazine.com for more information on them. i upgraded from a 5th gen accord to a 2000 TLP and im happy with it.

if you are lucky enough then you could get it done for around $2500-$3000 from transmission shop...but if you want dealer job then expect at least $5000 if you dont have warranty...

TL's are great cars. It's quite a jump from a Civic - power and luxury wise. There are a good number of parts for them; however, they are much pricier than Civic/Integra parts. For example, a good quality new exhaust w/ 2 mufflers ranges from $700 to $1,200. I believe a bolt on Civic system goes for well under that. Expect to pay about $18k for a Type S model… I am still on my original transmission and have not had any problems. I did get the transmission recall piece last year. My Dad took care of that for me so I'm not sure about the details on all that. If you are still looking/serious about getting one, check out AcuraZine. There are a lot of knowledgeable members on there with some very nice looking TL's. http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/

Comptech Icebox or AEM V2 CAI, Comptech or DC Headers, Comptech Catback or Apexi WS2, & Pulleys. <--- That's conservative
