Default Car Overheating

The needle from the temperature gauge almost climbs immediately to about 3/4 of the temperature gauge. When I accelerate quickly, it falls back to around the middle. Also if I put the a/c on full Heat, the needle drops. I popped the hood and noticed that only 1 of the 2 fans on the radiator was spinning, is this the problem? or is it the thermostat?

I hope it's something as simple as that. Replacing a thermostat is pretty easy right?

yeah, it's real easy...You'll need to get some more anit-freeze. It sits on the passanger backside of hte motor. Just follow the big hose that runs from the bottom of your radiator to the back

I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but do the radiator hoses run to the same place on both the base block and the SH block?

Thanks a lot, I'll keep you posted. I'm going to be buying a thermostat and replacing it tomorrow night. I've got my fingers crossed...

Is the thermostat gasket supposed to be bigger than the thermostat itself?

Yes it is...it'll wrap around your thermostate. Be sure to place it back in correctly, cause it says which side goes upward and there are little groves on the backside of the gasket in which it needs to be placed back in....If anything, use your old thermostat as a reference
