maybe too much water and the vapor expanded tooo much and caplowy. or tooo much coolant and i guess it got hot and expanded too much and caplowy. Thats my guess from space, I dont know too much about gases expansion and blah... but the rise in pressure mightve found a weak spot in your radiator that mightve been caused by rust and exploded. maybe your radiator had just blown so your lucky.

But wouldnt my engine temp gauge go up if that was the problem? It was where its always at then I noticed the radiator had blown...turned on the car again and noticed that the gauge started going up so I turned it off

I'd check the water pump, maybe the thermostat was stuck?
Anyways, I had a similar issue, but the hissing noise came from my reservior.
Turns out that I had air bubbles in my system so I had to flush it all out.

Re: (4drkidd)
Wouldnt a faulty thermostat mean my car was:
A: Overheating
B: Not warming up
But thats not the problem here..my temp gauge was at a normal temperature..I checked the radiator cap and the washers that it has are all torn. So could if be the rad. cap the one responsible for this?

At first my hoses were rupturing one by one. I'd replace them as they burst (they were old and weak.) None of the new hoses were rupturing because they were nice and tough. Eventually I replaced the last old hose that ruptured. All hoses were now new. A week down the road, the radiator completely explodes from the top (the top half separated from the rest of the radiator.) Replaced radiator, new one explodes, WTF!??!?!
Ended up being that my headgasket was going so there was severe pressure being pushed into my cooling system. The new hoses didn't rupture cuz they were new. One by one the weakest link was dying.
Not saying that's your problem, but it may be something to look at. Rust could also have been the culprit of the exploding radiator.
