Type R hubs and Ex Axles?????

Type R hubs and Ex Axles?????
I raced a guy last night that claimed he has a single cam vtec. It was turbocharged and very very fast but he has the Type R 5 lugs conversion. Can the EX axles bolt into the R hubs???? He said it was a single cam turbo and he smoked a low low 12 second Subaru Impreza WRX. Any ideas guys???
