Default Skunk2 pro2 cams won't idle! any suggestions?

just installed some skunk2 pro series stage 2 cams in a friends h22 and it won't idle. the bottom end is stock, head has been ported and has portflow valvetrain with ferrea valves. car drives fine after about 1500 rpm also vtec doesn't feel very strong (may not have anything to do with idle which is what im focused fixing). the car has proseries camgears set at 0 degrees.

You need to adjust the throttle stop on the throttlebody. This is NOT the idle control screw. Open it a hair by taking the throttlebody off and adjusting the stop until you can barely see light coming through the butterfly. The problem with large primaried cams is the idle-air-control-valve cannot compensate for the fluctuation of incoming air, and the idle surges. On B-series, they like 15:1 AFR and 21-22deg timing.

As for his power, you shouldn't judge by the butt dyno. What are you tuning with?

If you guys have decent technical skills you can use his chipped P28 to run something like Crome. Has the same functionality as Hondata but the software is free. This is what we use to tune all our customers.

Without fuel/timing control at idle, you will never get it to idle smoothly.

You should follow 92TypeR's insturctions.

Also, why waste money on a S200 when the ecu is already chipped and just needs to re-programmed via tuning.

Since the larger primaries shift the idle range out of the stock vacuum, you MUST use a full resolution tuning software like Crome or Hondata and adjust fuel to 15:1 and increase timing to 21-22deg.

You need to tune this while adjusting the throttlestop 1/2 turn incrimentally until you reach the desired idle. Every 1/2 turn you have to tune the idle again to the aforementioned air-fuel and timing.

well since its not my car im just gonna tell him to take it and get it tuned he has been wanting to put s200 on it anyway. i guess my jobs done. i hope i have better luck putting my pro2's in my gsr this week along with new timing belt and portflow springs retainers, i'll finally get to try out the 66 dollar ebay special valve compressor tool that seems kinda questionable.(it bolts to the head so i won't have to pull the head but its not designed like the majority of them)
