i have 96 hatch with 17s. whats the best and cheapest way to lower it. as well as the recommended inches in lowering.

cut your springs? previous owner of my car did it came out too low but no bumpy rides!

since you want cheap, and you have 17s, im guessin u dont care too much about handling. go on ebay, find some springs. eibachs prokits are pretty cheap. h&r as well. there u go.

Best and cheapest doesn't go together, with anything. I would recommened Ground Control coilovers with Tokico Illumina shocks. A bit spendy, but definitely a good combination!

 

Spring tensioners = $6.00

 

1. cut springs
2. buy egay coilovers
3. 1.5" lowering springs.

Choose one of the above.

EBay is hit or miss. It can be your best friend, or your worst nightmare.

 

you can get a budget setup for about 500 dollars or less if you shop ebay and buy decent brands. get tokico blue shocks, about 250, and your choice of spring, even an offbrand if your cheap. thats maybe another hundred. with shipping.

 

get some springs...or coilovers...run stock shocks...best you can do....

 

Just buy some cheap springs from ebay or something; they'll run to about $200. I second the Eibachs - they're pretty good and well priced. But: DO NOT CUT YOURS.

 

a 300 pound chic will do the trick for you plus some....

Then get rid of your 17s.

500 will get you plenty. with 500 i got comptech sport springs, and kyb agx. imo, thats more than a budget setup (unless you run some crazy setups, then im sorry im poor). to me, 500 is good for a mild setup.

to the op, if you can spend 500, youre pretty set with a good combo. springs run from 100-200, and shocks (koni, tokico, kyb entry levels) run 300-400. play with the money, add some on top, but for around 500, you got a nice setup.

 

Save up for a quality suspensin set up. Because if you go cheap, you will kick yourself later for not spending the extra for a nicer set up.

it really depends on what the persons lookin for. some really only care about the ddrop. int hat case... all you can get them to spend on is a set of springs, and itd sit on stock shocks. id save up and do it right all at once, but thatsme... other people have diff priorities

I agree, but if you do go the cheap route, don't come here 3 minutes after you put your springs on asking why your struts are blown.

 

when i got my car the stock spring had been cut and they did a real shitty job. i needed springs now and had limited cash
i put the ebay coilovers on new stock shock and they really arent to bad. i did have to modify them to fit right.
im not to worried about blowing these stock shocks either. its only dropped modarately 2.5
i drove my accord dropped w/ sprint sping and stock shocks for 4 yrs and they were fine too.
that parts really going to depend on how you drive
