JDM H22A spun rod bearing how does my cylinder wall look?!?!
Well I spun a rod bearing in cyl #3. The rod didnt go but did let loose cuz of the bearing and did a lil scaring on cyl #3. What are my options? so much for using std bore. How much does this special FRM process cost for boring and honing for some over sized type S pistons? I think the head is fine the valves did hit slightly but I dont think enough to do damage just cause a few small knicks. I will find out.
I have a bad feeling I would be better off buying a jdm h22a longblock for a G?
Cyl #4 looks a lil rich, compression test turned out good before the incident and numbers were similar across the board. Car was running rich for the time.

How deep are the scars? Just from the pictures, it looks like a bore and a fresh hone will take care of it.
not deep at all looks worse...I can feel then with my finger nails tiny bit...its chancy I am pondering re grinding the crank and new rod for cyl 3 and throw it back together old rings rods and pistons and new bearings
Tryin to get out easy and cheap if it is fine...
or else everything needs to be new and cost a lot

I thought I would bring this back from the dead still got the bottom end...and wondering if I can get more opinions...I can barely pick up the fine scratches with my finger nail... and if anyone knows a known place on the west coast that will do FRM sleeve bore and hone and price please post...

I have talked to Intec about build ups in the past on H22's and they didn't know anyone definetly not in WA state. I called around everywhere in WA state closest thing I got was PED inc in Tacoma...saying I dunno let us check call back...they had to talk to the manufacture of the machine...never done one and got a quote of $140 a hole and I have to buy the tooling...
On another note I have heard whispers of a special liquid that can fill in the scratches for the FRM sleeves found nothing on it...

the other flip side is I have connection down in CA that can do the FRM bore and hone but has only worked with the mercedes benz engines that have the FRM sleeves...same process...who knows...
I am pondering on getting a H23A engine and running the jdm h22 pistons should give me 11.5-1 I am thinking...but my head is milled 30k already so hopefully cometic can make a headgasket to give me the clearances I need from valve to piston...
I got a 90-93 Accord shortblock complete staring at me everyday in the garage just need more info about it how the engine will sit compared to the H22 axles motor mounts, piston clearances...how much taller is the engine...etc...if its really worth it...
haha well hey if you don't end up using that motor I'm thinking I might be able to take it off your hands!...
And what kind of motor are you looking for...and how much money.. that will make things easier to decide

I did the penny test to check to see if it picks it up...nottin...I am a gambeling man so we decided to take a chance leave the 3 good rods and pistons in, replace the cyl #3 piston and rod with a used set and use old rings and grind the crank 10 I will post the results and hopefully compression will be straight across the boards...
