2006 Devens National Tour...
First, who's going? Jeff (jasyatz) is running in STX with his 1992 Integra and I'll be in HS with the new Civic.
Now, to anyone involved with the event or who has conformed this...
I noticed that the scca.com website lists that we are not allowed in until 5pm on Friday. Is this correct (it seems awfully late), and why?
If so, it basically rules out practice runs because most people have to set up, register and walk a billion times before it gets dark.
Also, are there any good Mexican restaurants in the area?

Yep, the site is being used on Friday for police driver training. In Peru this weekend they anounced that if there wasn't enough time for course walks on Friday night once the course was set up that the start may be pushed back on Saturday to allow a little more time. None of the event staff will be able to get on site before 5:00 either so they are going to need a little time to get the rig set up, get registration and tech open, and get the courses up.

Tony,
The event site is very restrictive. There is no noise allowed on Friday, so no practice course.
A bunch of us are going out somewhere on Saturday night with those wacky Canadian guys. Help me celebrate my b'day and join us.
regards,
alan

OK, good to know regarding the practice courses... Your birthday is Saturday? Mine is Sunday! Cool.

If about 1/2 hour isn't too far, I like:
La Caretta Mexican Restaurant
139 DW Hwy
Nashua, NH
891-0055
Rt 3 up to Nashua.
Take the exit for 3A East. (I think it's Exit 2.)
Take first exit off of 3A for DW Highway.
Take a right at the bottom of the ramp.
It's in a strip mall on your left just past Friendly's and Wendy's.
Expect to wait a while on a weekend night.

i'll be there working gate, so expect a lot of smack talking.....
correct, gates will not be open until 5pm on friday. there are no practice courses, so everybody is in the same boat. well, except us locals.
as far as setup, think smooth and grippy asphault. i will be helping with course setup and we will be busting our tails to get things setup as early as possible. our goal is to have the course set for walking by 5:15. we already have parts of it in place and just have to put the cones back in the boxes.
be aware also of the sound restrictions we have at devens. go to ner.org to see the current reg., but rest assured, if you're loud, you'll be told. loud again, put 'er on the trailer. don't even PUSH this. it isn't worth loosing the site. the sound meter is moved throughout the day, so just pointing your chit a different way is NOT a solution.
i'll be in the #14/46/146 CM car. you might also find me by the #44/144 STS car, though i'm not driving in that class this weekend.
alan, your b-day is that weekend too? Saturday for me. the wife isn't happy i won't be around for my own birthday, so i'm dragging her along to the event too.
nate - pm me with any other questions you may have. if i don't know the answer, i can forward it to someone who might

both saturday and sunday. your entry fee pays for both, so if you want to pay $70+ for one day of autocrossing, be my guest. you're also scored by your combined times, so if you only run one day, you're DFL automatically.

But there is an 'average' autocross the next Sunday at Devens if you do want to get out and play for one day (and about 1/2 the price of the tour).
