Default I NEED advise on choosing a swap!

Before I go any further heres some facts:
1. I'm not mechanically inclined (to a certain point)
2. I don't have much money to spend on my hatch (b16/b18/b20 swaps are out)
3. My '91 dx hatch has the d15b7 motor from an EK dx/lx
4. I don't plan on building the new motor, I just want a quick little car
5. I'd like high 14s, but low 15s at worst.

Ok, heres the deal....I believe my piston rings are bad due to the oil it burns (could be the valves?) so I'm not doing a mini-me like I once thought. Also, I'm contemplating a ZC but not sure on prices and I'd need more info. BUT right now I have my eye on a d15 sohc vtec motor . I'm thinking this would be a cheap alternative with great mpg yet give me some extra horses. Any advice or recommendations are welcome!

Then I'd suggest a DOHC ZC swap , or at the very least a D16a6 in the 88-91 range.

Bro I would swap in an LS(b18a), very cheap/inexpensive, junk yards in Maryland sell them for $150-$300, tranny included for $80 extra. There's no reason why you can't afford the LS, more torque for the same price of the D-series motors. Also it's a great platform to begin a build for later.

Also If your near Omaha/lincoln, there are plenty of junk yards full of LS integra's just laying around, and need a good home. When I was at college a UNO, the 3 local "U-pull it's" had tons of hondas/Acura in their yards. Man I was so jealous, they had so many crx's just chillin in the yards, I wish I was still there to pick one up.

this right here could be a complete deal breaker... what can you do? this might be a better place to start... also you are going to need a decent of tools to perform any swap...do you have tools?

I have a basic set of tools, yes. However the most I've done mechanically is bolt on a cai and change the oil.... . If I did the ls swap (which I think I'll do) I'll research quite a bit and have a few local guys help me out who have done honda swaps before. I'm not quite sure how difficult the b18 swap will be, but I hope it all works out.

Get a SOHC ZC. Picked mine up for 100$. It's more powerful then the A6 by about 10hp, it's not as good as the DOHC ZC, but parts for it are easier to find. Pulls pretty good if I do say so myself. A CAI screams at full tilt in her. I'll tell you a 1/4 mile time this weekend.

i have a D16y8 i'm saling it has a port and polish and stage 1 cam, and valve and springs upgrade. its got some power and i have a crx si tranny and stage 2 clutch thats brand new is was drove for 500 miles for the breakend time. and a header plus the intake manifold from a crx si, it s mpfi. it would put you in that 15.0 to 14.8 range with eas all of this to $800 and its already together so no work for you but pull the old motor and drop in this one easy. and ecu for crx si if you want vtec all u need is a diff. ecu and jumper harness.

this is a good day.

Stock D series won't get you into 14s LS will SOHC turbo may...Well if you don't have much Mech experience and/or money in this case only I would say get a D and remember:

Fast
Reliable
Cheap

you can only pick 2 of the 3

SOHC turbo, a maybe 1000$ setup can get you into the 13s, reliably. I'm just bought a 14B for my SOHC ZC hehe.
