will a car kinda idle rough and low with no pcv valve?
i took out my pcv and added an oil catch for the turbo system. just wondering if its idling rough now because of that or something else? it kinda seems like i have a vaccum leak because if i brake suddenly to a stop the car idles at like 100. im surprised it doesnt die and then if i give it a little bit of gas to like 1000rpm it will go up and then settle to 500. but i have idle set at 750 on my ecu?
any ideas?

I have the same symptoms, and after using pliers to squeeze shut the line going to it, I heard no "click" of the PCV spring pushing the plunger back into position. So that tells me it is stuck open, since I have vacuum coming through the line going into the intake air hose. My idle seems fine sometimes, but is more often rough and too low. So its a new PCV valve AND the grommet (which often causes vacuum leaks itself).
if i must say there is no spring in the pcv valve. it opens when pressure rises enough to push the plunger open solely based on pressure opening the valve to allow flow to the intake manifold.
Say what you want, but the helms manual clearly states that the PCV valve is sping loaded. They state that to test it you pinch the vacuum line shut that its connected to and listen for a "click" when the plunger seats. Where are you getting your information from?
