Missed 3rd, Now I cant go into 4th?????
Car:
1994 Honda Civic Hatch with k20a motor/trans w/ 25k.
Problem:
I was driving and I went to do a 2nd/3rd gear pull. I redlined 2nd and I went to shift into 3rd and i missed it and it grinded, so I pulled back and slammed it into 5th. Right after that things felt horribly wrong, I could not even tell what gear it was in. So I kept the clutch pushed down and brought it to a side street, shut off the car. I messed around with it and got it to go into 1, 2 and 3. I would not go over to where 5, 6 and Reverse are. It would not go back into 4th either. So I was a mile from home, So I started it back up and planned to just drive it home in 1, 2 and 3. So I am driving it back and again I try to move it into 4, wont go. So I try 5 and 6. I now have 5 and 6 again, not sure about reverse because I never had to use it, but I assume reverse is fine. But I still have no 4th.
Does anyone know what would cause me to be BLOCKED out of 4th when I missed 3rd? I have a feeling the issue is with the cable that hooks to the LEFT side of the shifter because that was keeping it from going towards 5/6/R. My trans has always had a slight high rpm 3rd gear grind sometimes.
I am hoping it is something externally on the trans, and at worse I hope I bent a shift fork, would that be possible slamming into 5th???

The only thing that seems possible is that some metal shaving got jammed? Try flushing the transmission perhaps and see if that helps.

See the area that is boxed. Those are suppose to be completely
smooth. Not jagged like mine. The outer sleeve was binding so
I counldn't shift. [Charlie]

yeah for some reason honda does not just sell sleeves, you gotta buy whole gear assemblies together.
