Default Things to conside when upgrading your clutch.

I started to install my Ls\Vtec on Memorial day weekend and this stopped me cold in my tracks. My driver side mount was completely demolished. I checked all of my mounts when I installed my Stage 3 ACT clutch two weeks ago and there were no cracks in any of the mounts. This is what I have: 90 LS no mods on the engine, 93 Civic Si Tranny (JDM not a USDM single) Lsd installed from a local shop, ACT stage 3 clutch, Skunk2 short shifter, Brand new Yokohama tires (At least when I installed the clutch). If you look closely the power steering pulley is digging into my Water resevoir. So this is what I suggest: First off PERFORMANCE MOUNTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. The OEM mounts For my car SUCK when it comes time to get the power to the wheels. Second, Neck Brace I don't stop skitchin till 5th gear. Third Tires you won't catch without them. And fourth be prepared to get some better axels it is only a matter of time. With the mods I have I can rape a GSR (Stock) off the line. But they will sometime catch me. Check out the pics.

Raping a GSR with a stock engine, with a clutch and lsd upgrade?

To me that sounds a bit unrealistic, no?

So, he takes them off the line. What about afterwards?

Si gears are verrry short with a low rpm (6300 shift point) top speed 112. I Can get a lot of people till 3rd gear. Then they start pulling on me. All that I am worried about is who is in front at the end of 1320 feet. Freeway racing though I get raped. But off the start, I jump pretty D@m good. with the LSD too..... Very quick take off. Power to both wheels make a big difference. Then the clutch to make the shifts quicker. To be fast mod the engine. to be a quick sleeper mod the tranny. I'll pop my hood I still have the stock airbox and headers and the stock exhaust. I get alot of raised eyebrows when I pop the clutch @ 40mph and still smoke em. The tranny is what will really lower your times in the 1/4 mile. Engine mods will help but tranny will help a hell of lot more than I\H\E on any car.

lol a b18b with an si tranny is not a powerhouse....i know cause i had one....you can definately hang with some gsr's and maybe inch in front of a select few (engine health dependent) but in now way is it such a powerhouse than you chirp 4th gear...thats called bad driving

i do agree with what youre saying about tranny upgrades tho...definately better than the big 3 bolt ons...

Snapped an axle for all of you guys on H\t. I was going to pull the motor anyways but here you guys go. the tranny in right now is an LS (90-93). I snapped the axle going into third. I popped 1st @ 4 grand shifted into second as soon as I popped 3rd I heard a rattle and then I saw a couple of bearings pop out the passenger side of the car. This is why you should get axles and good mounts when you get a clutch! F@ck it. Glad I have a second car.

I am not sure how to load the videos but here they are:

Some pics of the ride home. So what have we learned here? INSTALL MOUNTS AND AXELS WHEN UPGRADING YOUR CLUTCH. I THINK THAT I HAVE PROVED THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS TODAY. LOL. HOPE YOU HAVE A BETTER DAY THAN ME!
