Check the speedometer cable. Make sure it is engaging with the speedometer gear.

i check that
is there a special way the cable has to go in?
there isnt a specific notch that the cable has to go in is there?
how would i check if its plugged into the tranny right?

i did replace that because for some reason the one on the new tranny was broked and ghettoed onw ith zipties because the bracket broke, but i replaced it while it was off the tranny and it bolted in fine

i would say its probably the spedometer cable..either at the tranny or behind the cluster..usually you'll have a check engine light also
