Default Airbag Question-adding a passenger side airbag to an EG

I have a '93 DX, the year before they started adding passenger side airbags as standard equiptment. I'm wondering if its possible to add an airbag to the passenger side? Does anybody have any experience? Is the wiring present for the airbag? Search turned up nothing.thanks in advance guys.

Saftey > Looks.

The wiring isn't there, you need to add the 94-95 SRS fusebox, and the wiring, and a 94-95 dashboard.

I can't stress this enough. I rather walk away from an accident than have my car look good. I have a '94 EJ1, with the passenger airbag and I never take a second look at it. But yes, you'll need the SRS fuse box from a 94-95 and the dash to accompany the airbag.

I took my driver airbag out for my removeable steering wheel. I'm willing to live with the consequences if anything bad happens. On a better note, in the past 2 years I haven't driven it more than 600 miles.

Seatbelts are definately a good first line of defense, they will keep you from going through the windshield for sure, but airbags are nice to have as a second line. I dont care too much about myself, its more for my girlfriend. There have been way too many cases where people have died because they havent been wearing seatbelts. A guy who went to my church died on his daughters birthday coming home from picking up the cake because he wasnt wearing a seatbelt, and 3 girls were killed this weekend on the interstate for the same reason. Its so stupid not to buckle up, seatbelts get uncomfortable sometimes, but its not as bad as getting thrown from your car.

have you guys ever set off an airbag?...it is really violent, you can put it inside a tire with a piece of plywood on top of it and set it off and it will throw you up in the air 2-3 feet, and im 170lbs.

*edit* at work we import them from japan with our front clips and its illegal to sell them over here so we have fun with them

thats the initial impact which pops off the cover and expands, by the time your head hits it, it is definately softer than a mouth full of dashboard

living is worth a little scruffing on the neck.. I always wear my seatbelt... only time it's off is when i'm reversing in my garage lol, I had a bad incident, was reversing in winter time my drive is on a slop, and well I was going up my tire started to slide.. I got traction, but along with that my car jolted back, was heading towards the side of my garage, I geuss I moved to quickly and my seatbelt locked.. and it stopped me from turning my wheel bye bye driver side mirror lol

my sealtbelt came unbuckled in my 2002 4runner when i totalled it the guy t-boned me in the side and sent me spinning and i almost flew out the door that he turned into a horse shoe. I came out with one scrape on my leg and seatbelt scrapes on my shoulder/chest. The cavalier that hit me at 65mph+ (shruggs) ouch. He hit me so hard i spun 2 1/2 time and hit a tele. pole so hard with the back bumper the hatch wouldnt open

dang, glad you are ok man, good thing he t-boned you instead of rear ending you, your momentum would of been aimed towards the windshield

sorry incorrect......your momentum with a rear end collision is towards the back of the seat....a front end collision would have sent him towards the windshield....anyways, glad you're ok man!

yup you are right, my bad. the car will be going forward in a rear end crash and a person not being attached to the car would be going backwards.

i suppose u dont know that airbags kill quite a bit of people also.
why bother ******* around with the airbag when your fairly safe with just the seatbelt.

if you wanted a safer car, why didnt u buy a 94
