Default chipped socketed ecu questions

I need info/ links with explanations of what to do to an ecu to tune it. Im kinda new to the whole ECU thing. mostly motor swaps and P+P ecus like gsr with gsr or b16 with p30 but....my dad just purchased a 93 civic si hatch and we are in the process of installing a jdm 96 spec itr engine.. it came with the ecu(p73) but i really dont want to jump to OBDII so id like to use the p28 or a p30 i have in the shop and have it tuneable. the car is immediately getting the I/H/E treatment but might see some cams and other stuff later on in its life so I would like the tuneability.....In a nut shell im a hands on kinda guy and I really like to know how things work so any explanations/links/info will help
plus my car (95 civic ex coupe b16 ITRcams-mani) needs a tune also so this will benifit me too (oh and for the 92-00 civic forum i dont care if you think it doesnt belong here i posted it in three forums for maximum coverage)

pgmfi.org

so basically you need a conversion harnace
obd2->obd1
then you can use a p28 ecu chipped with the itr maps
to chip it you basically need a 28 pin socket, some capacitors, one other thing i forgot what its called and a 28 pin amtel chip and a HC373 chip
