Default Muffler

I want to add a muffler to my 97 Civic for looks and just wanted to know if I were to get a muffler with a 2.25" inlet, would it be able to directly weld onto my oem stock exhaust without having to expand the piping?

And

Does anybody know the exhaust pipe size of the 96-98 Civic HB's?

Thanks.

Any reputable welder should be able to do this. I have had 2.25" piping welded to stock muffler.

Dude just save money and geta real exhaust. You don't want to be one of the ricer pos cars that are loud as hell and still slow as hell. I have this one on my EG6
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1
And it works great and actaully adds some power. Plus you can bolt it right on and not have to pay someone to put it on.

This will get you crucified. Just get a "real" (full) exhaust. They're not that expensive.

if ya just want a LOOK.... just buy a exaust tip!
thats what i did! 3 bolts holds it on and so far its holding it very strong still! just check it every few days for a few weeks when ya first instal it to make sure its not sliping any, if it is tighten it back down.

just be sure that the exaust tip is long enough so it goes back preaty far and if you have to saw the old pipe off so you dont see a rusty crapy pipe inside of it.LOL ive seen it done thousands of times!!!!!!!

ive had the loud exaust and just gotten tired of it over my age, (ya im only 25) but have had loud exaust since before i got my liscence! so when i got my 99civic that just had its exaust replaced i decided to keep it quite with a glassy look!

this is what it looks like now i woulda liked it more if the pipe went back further BUT for about 20bucks and 5 mins makes a huge improvment in looks!

over this....

i also still want to go over my muffler with some black heat paint to hide the muffler alittle more.
from what i lack in exaust noise i make up for in stereo click that pic for video

ya dont be that ricer that buys bullshit exhausts off ebay.....news flash, your a ricer to

I would say save up that extra 200-300 and get a nice brand name exhaust that will give you the sound you are looking for

just search and look into it, do you want something loud as hell, something in the middle, somethign a little louder than stock, there are way to many choices so if you could be more specific maybe people could suggest the correct exhaust for your taste and maybe even have some sound clips.

I once had a muffler added to my stock exhaust cause I wont lie i was a ricer back in 2002 and it was the biggest waste of money, cost me $120 for a stupid as bling bling noise maker and then $80 to have it welded....thats $200 when you can get a quality made exhaust, even a used one for $300-$500. It's just worth saving your money and I know from experience

That is a name brand. Not as name brand as Greddy or skunk but he is trying to do it on the cheap. Not all of us can buy a $500 exhaust from those comepanies. Mine works fine sounds great and actaully does something.

Well is there a muffler tip anybody would recommend looks good? I'm not in it for performance just looks..and I don't speed past everyone thinking my car is fast. I know its slow and even if i get a full exhaust, its still gonna be slow so thats a waste of money too.

So any mufflers tips anybody recommend? The outlet pipe for the 96-00 civic hb's arn't too long.
