Do they help? Are they worth it at all?

I wouldn't bother with the pullies. You should get cam gears later on when your modding.

Actually I have always used an underdrive crank pulley. Shed's rotational weight off the crank, makes 4-6 whp and no tuning involved. Plus not too expensive. No downside to going with them unless you subscrive to the paranoia about harmonic dampeners.

83,000 miles with the full Unorthodox pulley set. No problems & runs smooth now as when I bought her in '99. Ask anyone who's ridden with me - I DO test the higher 1/2 of the rpm range every damn time I get in the car.

Pullies rock. Except when the bolt holding the AC tensioner pulley snaps off & lodges against the aluminum crank pulley Can you say "aluminum lathe"

I have found 1 other person who has had it happen. The odd thing is that the bolt that snapped doesn't have that much pressure on it, nor did the threads stretch {like they would if you torqued a bolt too tight - don't ask how I know}. It appears to just have been a "bad" bolt that snapped dropping the tensior pulley for the AC down onto the crank pulley & also of course releasing the belt & knocking off the ps belt. FORTUNATELY I was only going ~5mph coming to a stop sign when all hell broke loose under my hood

Needless to say, I used a different bolt I had in my garage from an old Civic exhaust setup that should be stronger (at least I know it held up before )
