Car shopping and comparing an 04 vs 06
I'm in the market for a new(er) car and comparing the 04 model to the 06 (6-speed coupe). My question is the 06 is rated at 244 and the 04 at 240 hp. Now I know they've changed how they rate the horsepower of cars so is the 06 putting down alot more to the wheels than an 04 model because of this new rating?
Honda made some changes to the ECU tuning, which (under the old system) would have brought horsepower up to about 250. The new rating system brought it back down to 244.
With the 03-05 V6 Accords, you could supposedly gain 10hp and 10tq by using Premium grade gas (91 or 93 octane). I read an article in which a Honda engineer commented about this and said it's because the ECU "adapts" to the grade of fuel you use. I suspect it attempts to gradually up the timing until it detects knocking. I don't know if the 06 V6s are like this or not.

I would get an 04 car personally sonce I do not see a point in buying an accord for over 30K by the time tazes interest and other factors are applied.
