Default MSD RPM activated switch

alright, i know this is used as a switch to activate anything at a given rpm... and i know ppl use it to activate vtec on there ls vtec or mini me setups when they dont have the correct ecu (ghetto). but what i've been told is that it converts the vtec system from a 6volt to a 12volt and inturn making vtec hit louder.

now i want vtec in my SOHC to hit as hard as a DOHC as possible... so if i DO have the correct ecu for my setup that already activates vtec... and i get a MSD activated switch for it aswell... would it increase the aggressivness of vtec when my car engages it if i have the pill set at the same time the ecu hits vtec???

thats what im saying.... i mean, theres ppl with 10second built SOHC's telling me this... i just wanted to confirm it with HT.

if vtec is activating with a stronger voltage... it kinda makes sense that the 'buzz' will be stronger... or more of a transition from the normal exhaust tone...

any input from someone running this????

but then again... why the hell is vtec a 6volt system to begin with??? isnt everything in your car running on a 12v system??? wtf!!??

The potential difference of 6volts or 12 volts would not matter as long it activates the solenoid to lock the vtec mechanism to run the high profile of the cams. More voltage will not make your sohc magicly have exhaust vtec lobes like the DOHC counter parts. The people you talk to are probably laughing at you right now because you believed them.

Exactly, it will either engage or not. there's no difference in its performance. Try hooking up your USDM cellphone charger into a JDM wall outlet

thats what i figured... they told me since the motor is old.. it would open the vtec selonoid harder, therefore making vtec activate to its full potential when it was new...

but yea thats the reason i didnt think so, its either on or off... and no, they hard core believe this ****.
they're all puerto ricans that only listen to what they're told and dont research ****... nothing against anyone that is puerto rican i mean.

they pay ppl to do they're work... so just cuz they run 10's doesnt mean they know their ****... hence why im on here asking about it.

oh puertorricans and their reggeaton, don't listen to them

Then tell them to run 24v systems, like many v8 drag cars do.

LMAO, i just did the same thing and got 12 aswell...

poor ******** that told me this... i really pitty them, they honestly think they know their ****...

you know what one jamacian i work with tried to tell me yesterday?!
"yo! my boys d16y7 pulls on Bseries all day mON.. its ALL stock, he just got dE Mugen chipped B16A2 ecu and revs it out to 10,000rpm y00!" (keep in mind this is chipped FOR a B16A2

i told him your not making power pass the revlimit if you have a stock cam and/or valvetrain so therefore... your not "pullin on B's" at all...y00!!
and just cuz you think you FEEL your car go faster with the incorrect ECU in it ...is just the placebo effect, you just might blow it up with the improper fuel and ign maps... and i DONT care if your pal 'BoMbMAclaD' has been running it for over a month with no problems.

he goes: "my A/F ratio gauge is reading fine.."

i just stare at him... and try to wonder why he thinks his stock narrowband O2 sensor hooked up to his Pepboys special A/F gauge, that displays nothing but a colorful light show, is actually accurate....
