Default All about muffler

I currently own a 98 civic coupe ex with an aftermarket muffler. I want to go back to stock. My question is if other trim mufflers will fit (dx, lx, si) and is there any difference between them in exhaust gas flow? Does the 4 door and coupe vary? Is a 92-95 civic muffler a direct bolt on ? Thanks in advance.

I know that from the trims, its a direct bolt on with no modifications. As for the 92-95 civic I think the chassis is different so some modifications might be needed but not anything major.

The SI might have more flow because its a DOHC VTEC motor, but I havn't measured the exhaust or really checked it out since my friend runs open cat on that thing.

the 99-00 si has bigger exhaust piping than the other trims. You could just buy an adapter from autozone or something. not too hard to make it fit.

If you want to be quiet and have a little growl when you floor it, go with like a type r or an rsx muffler, they look good too.

Or go all custom piping, and use a stock muffler or any of these ^^

The 99-00 Si uses the same exhaust piping as the 96-00 EX. Its all 2" outside diameter crush bent piping...
