Default Burns Stainless 321SS thin gage road race header

Hi guy's this is an old topic that got posted in all motor and RR/AX it seems a bit slow in here as of late so maybe this will help pick things up!

Here are a couple of photos of a header we built for Honda Of Canada's Ontario Truring Gt Championship Team ( it's like Canadian Speed World Challenge ) The header is constructed from thin gage 321 stainless steel to produce a lightweight unit yet maintain maximum durability. I went with a 4-2-1 design to produce the maximum useable midrange while not hindering peak horsepower. If anything this header should show some good gains on the top end.

hope you guy's enjoy please comment at will

looks like it might go into production in the last pic... how much did you weld yourself? how thin is "thin wall"? looks good.

I didn't weld a single bit of this, it was all our welder. "Thin wall" to use is .035

We do not weld anything that isn't backpurged, except for things that can't be. If it can't be backpurged we use solar flux!

Machine settings are tyipcally around 45 amps on a 1/16th or 3/32 2% thoriated tungsten. The machine is so damn old it doesn't offer much more adjustment.

any other questions feel free to ask

Sorry I'm a noob and this has probably been answered before in other topics, but whats the reasoning for the collector "bottle-neck", then expand back to normal length say 2.5 " or whatever you have in the picture

you guys ever experiment with anti-reversion chambers like on some other headers?

Its a venturi effect. Creates a high velocity low pressure zone.
